Looks good and really improves the atmosphere – thank for sharing George. Not sure if it’s just me but I can clearly see what ray tracing actually is and how it improves an old title like this, however when I switch on the feature in most of my new games I’m hard pushed to see any real difference – other than the frame rate going shit of course (Xbox series x / ps5). And those twats at digital foundry said ray tracing would be the next big thing and as revolutionary (and noticeable) as when games went 3D lol.
yes mate i tend to agree. in SOME games i do notice a difference, like for example in the resident evil 4 remake the shadows cast and the occlusion of some lights etc did make things look more “real” but games have been faking ray tracing for a long time already with calculated reflection maps and shadows etc so it can seem a BIT underwhelming. i think for the next gen or subsequent of gfx cards it will start to make more of a difference. also at the moment many games have the support added post launch which is fine but i think if things were made with ray tracing in mind from the ground up then they’d probably look more impressive. modern games already look amazing so i think it’s a case of the law of diminishing returns. we all remember how flat games like DOOM looked so to see them presented in this way instantly shows up the differences. with modern titles it’s definitely not so obvious i think it just adds a little to the immersion. i wouldn’t say that it’s the quantum leap that digital foundry promised, no.
How nice of Lady Dunce to pop by and keep is all appraised of Top Twat’s “in bits” status.
