At the height of the Horace debacle, wasn’t she pulling in around £2,500 per month just from Patreon? That’s £30k/yr before YT ads, any sponsorship, signed photos, writing scripts for other channels etc.

So, looking back at the Unbound pages regarding Octavius’s book, a number of glaring issues jump out, given the current situation and amount of time passed since funding.

To start with.

Octavius stated that:

“This book aims to be a relatable story of struggling through the barriers that poor mental health
can place on anyone, regardless of their age, background or circumstance. But it won’t all be doom and gloom – famous and obscure video games will be covered too, from some of the most jaw- dropping experiences on recent consoles way back to the pixel-perfect world of 1980s gaming.”

And it would be:

” Packed with gaming facts and relatable experiences”

OK, so these sections should be relatively straightforward to write, your just recounting your own personal memories of certain titles and putting some background info and triva behind the titles.

Octavius by now, in order to show credible evidence, that as Unbound claims, writing of the book, has indeed been started, thrown out a few sample pages, to give backers an idea of her style of writing and the direction she will be taking with these aspects of the book, instead we have seen NOTHING of any real worth.

What we have seen, strongly suggests she’s pretty clueless on the subject matter.

The SNES has an on/off SWITCH, not a button you press.

Levelling up in games isn’t hard, it just requires an awful lot of time and repetition.

Octavius issued an update:

Tuesday, 20 December 2022
Thank you for your support
Hello everyone, and welcome to this long overdue update on the status of this book. Please be aware, this post comes with a HUGE trigger warning.

This book was funded in the early months of this year, and it has taken me this long to write any manner of update. Of course, this isn’t acceptable; but I am chained down by mental illness. I have to be honest with you – this is far harder than I was expecting. I do have every intention of writing this, but in the time since I first pitched the idea, there has been considerable upset in my mental health status.

#Sorry Octavius, but at this point in time, it’s beyond obvious, your in way over your head. No matter how ‘good’ your intentions were, going in with the idea of writing a book, it’s beyond your skill set.

Video games were one of the things which dragged me through my childhood. As a victim of a sexual assault before I was ten years old, they presented a world in which to escape. To be honest, there is a lot of sadness and trauma attached to each game I played as a child. As such, this book is far harder to write than I ever expected it to be. I knew it was going to be tough, but good Glob not like this.

# Here you basically admit defeat, but rather than be fully transparent with your backers, your simply NOT a writer, you attempt deflection with more misery-based content.

If you had serious doubts about being able to deliver what was promised, you should never of attempted this endeavour, never taken money for it.

You likely know of me from my YouTube channel, which has its own trauma bond. It was created after I lost my job due to an attempted abduction and sexual assault. The channel was a laugh, a silly hobby in which I attempted to express the femininity that had been stolen from me. It was never meant to become my job, but it did; an online persona that I’ve changed and sculpted over the years.

Unfortunately being female-presenting online comes with its considerable risks, and the nature of the abuse I have received – which goes far, far deeper than comments about my breasts – coupled with my silence about my trauma experiences did lead me an attempt at the end of last year.

#Right, so as I suspected, you were happy to define yourself as FEMALE, when it came to funding from your YT channel and your crowdfunding endeavour.

This book was going to be some heartwarming, fun story of recovery through video games. It isn’t that anymore. I am not recovered. I never will be recovered. This book has become a very dark and honest piece of work which I am nervous to release to the wild.

#Sorry, so your now saying you HAVE written the book, it’s just NOT the book your backers thought they were getting?

It’s unfit to be delivered to them?

Yet you told Simon Butler not so long ago, the book was taking time to write?

Which is it?

Written or unwritten?

She went onto say…

How can I explain to you through the pages of a book exactly how at age 12, a particular part of Final Fantasy VII gave me the first urge to harm myself? And how can I do that in a way that’s readable, charming, and doesn’t sound like I’m attention-seeking? How on earth can I express the utter darkness that video games kept me company within, without having you all bored and depressed after the first chapter?

#Well for a start, maybe detail which particular section had that effect on you and why?

It’s not quantum physics your attempting to explain, is it?

She ended by saying…

I truly do not wish to disappoint you. But this is harder than I can express.

I am aiming to have the first draft done by January. I will update you soon.

Octy x

# We are now so close to September and you’ve not been shy on social media, updating us about the status of your pets, for example.

As for the status of the mythical first draft…

Where is it Octavius????

Just need someone to tell me what I’m watching here.
Wears cats ears
In a sort of school uniform
Uses male pronouns and name
Makes streams about rats
Goes around stroking computers.
Is this a cross dressing male with a cat fixation who keeps pet rats?
I just don’t get it at all.
Please help before my brain melts.

As far as I can tell, Octavius is a character played by a woman who needs help.

Been following your commentary on Octavius since the beginning and agree with everything you’ve stated on it since. Without going over it all, I genuinely don’t believe a word of any of it. I think this person is a fantasist who has fabricated stories of past experiences for nothing else but attention. I know that sounds harsh, but too many times the stories have contradicted each other and changed in terms of subject matter over the years.

Looking forward to that one. Wasn’t there a story about her and the ferret a while back? One thing though does anyone know how Barcadia is going? No one mentions it now.

Even the concocting is rubbish. The sample chapter from the book said it all, the narrative of living in a broken home with disinterested and distant parents, the air thick with cigarette smoke and despair.

All I took from it is that the parents were busy running the pub they all lived in, keeping a roof over their heads and paying the bills. Sounds like her mum was asleep a lot in the day, I guess from working nights. While they were working or asleep she would play computer games with her brother. Oh, but her mum smoked, some of the furniture was a bit tatty and her parents didn’t have the entire day to sit there and tell her how great she is.

Not exactly ‘Kes’ is it.

Where can we read this extract from his/her book?

During Horacegate, i believe Sarah went on record to state Octavius was simply a female character she had created, solely for YT (or words to that effect), suddenly Octavius Kitten becomes King, The Octavius becomes Louis / he/they…

Another reinvention, day follows night affair.

The key issue is really simple here..

Sarah took £25K from a community for a book she has herself, clearly no idea how to write or what it should actually be written about.

A misery bible seems an apt description.

If Sarah herself can’t write it, then a portion of that £25K, should be given to a writer, who can write it for her.

Of course a quality book takes months to plan, write, proof read etc, we understand that Sarah, however, you’ve yet to provide your backers with any credible proof the book is actually going forward, period.

By now, sample pages should of been provided, to reassure backers they are getting something along the lines of what they had funded.

That £25K would of been far better donated to a genuine mental health charity, somewhere where it could be put to good use.

Yes, we are a nation of pet lovers, loss of any pet can be crippling, but Sarah, you have a moral obligation to your backers to provide credible evidence, the book is happening.

It’s really that simple.

Get off social media, knuckle down, allocate the resources, find the people and just produce the book.

If you can’t.

Accept it.

But refund the money or prove you’ve donated it to a mental health charity, where it can be used for good.

A friend of mine had rats but have given up on having any more. Paying vet bills for them etc. just seems crazy given their short life.

I’m happy to be respectful of pronouns and things like that, if it makes them happy it’s no skin off my nose. But end of the day their own YouTube about page says ‘presented by a woman’ and they have been gaming ‘since they were a little girl’ so I don’t think any saddo fan has the right to jump down your throat about getting it wrong there!

Pronouns have been weaponised though. Originally they were to prevent mis-gendering. But as soon as things other than male and female appeared it was starting to become silly. Hence we’re now in the situation where children in schools are saying they are cats and dogs.

Exactly right. Pronouns have been weaponised by everyone from Twitter SJWs to sex pests in dresses. The worst part is that it makes life so much harder for real trans people who just want to get on with their lives and don’t put their status out on display like some sort of fetish.

I’m expecting the same deluded fools (who are probably SJWs and/or sex pests) who downvoted your comment to downvote this one.

Well said George. I have suffered with depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, and to add to that I am autistic. The last thing I would do is put it out on YouTube. We all have our own pain to deal with, and yeah the internet can be a good place for people with mental health but it can also be a complete cesspool. Why would anyone put themselves through that?

Someone mentioned Paul Gannon’s book in the comments, he updates his followers on Twitter about how many words he has done. So there is that to it.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said about her followers are just keeping her in the mental state she is in and it is really unhealthy.

Well until I can convince my nephew Louie his name is Sarah…keep up the good work.

Actually, there appears to be 2 lengthy posts from someone on George’s discord, where someone spoke to a child psychologist about Octavius and asked their opinion about her. There is a fair bit of psychologist terminology, but, its an interesting read.

The conclusions I took from the posts were (prob best you all read them yourselves as this is only my take on it):

She either knows what she is doing, but sees the damage she is doing to her mental health to be worth the returns (ie the grifting), or she is in denial.

The depression / mental health issues are either over-egged, or made up.

The rats arent helping – in fact, they are absolutely making things worse for her.

She needs to have a plan of where she sees herself in 1, 2 and 5 years, and establish what she needs to do / change to get there (it could be just grift grift grift, and that IS the plan – I genuinely do not know).

The Octavious / Louis / she / he is absolute, well, yeah, and they explain why.

And, there are a few comments here and there about their opinion on other things, but its an interesting read, and again, from the wild terminology used in places, Id say looks legit.

Octavius should have started as Octavia and then could have at least transitioned to Octavius.
Like working at Dixon’s, you ought to have a basic grasp of Latin if you’re going to be a YouTube ‘personality’.

I’m sure you will get the simps running after you George. Fuck em.

She IS a troubled individual but she also needs to find a path out of this. I’m not saying man (sorry Woman up) up, far from it but there is a rinse repeat of “I’m back” and “I’m down”

She (and yes, I’m saying “she” rather than this Louis bollocks) is relying on the worst thing someone could do when they clearly have mental health issues

1) attention seeking
2) pouring her heart out on social media to complete strangers. Most reply “you’ve got this” when clearly she hasn’t.
3) Rats which don’t even last a few months.
Get a pet that lasts. You can bond with that emotionally rather than a conveyer belt of rodents
4) putting undue pressure on herself in a vicious circle of “I must keep the simps interested” and then “I can’t stream tonight” as I’m in a state.

This book sounds like a bundle of laughs (sarcasm) but if simps want to back it it’s their money but surely she is better off doing one thing at a time? Concentrate on that. Get it released. Then start the next project when you are MENTALLY strong enough to do it.

Oh, this is one of her simps that seems to be constantly stalking her feed with “you ok hun” posts. Hard drive check in aisle 3 please

I have a lot to say about Octy in general however trying to keep it just about the book. That sample chapter when have seen was wow just wow. Talk about trauma dumping on the reader (the man who is not her father). Octy / Sarah / Louis finds themselves in a situation where her “enemies” have backed the book so they will get to read it and rip it apart. If any of it has been AI generated we will all soon know. Octy does not want people to read it however they want the money from it so the book has to got all backers and not just the simps. I have backed a few things on unbound and by experience has not been great. I have only been backing books now that are done and ready for printers ie Craigs book getting published by Fusion we should have the book in had within the next month or so

I’m a little late to the party (never heard of her until I subscribed here), what got this person on the shitlist?

RUSH

I don’t doubt she’s a troubled lady with a troubled past, but weaponized trauma for monetary gain is as scummy as it gets, no matter which way you cut it. Turning on and off the water works when it suits you is disingenuous at best and manipulatively cruel at worst. The excuses given for her book is a load of waffle too. I’ve backed a number of titles on Unbound that have all met their deadlines (or in some cases, released earlier than initially promised). Yes, some hiccups and obstacles can crop up – as with any project, crowdfunded or not, but this dog and pony show has been going on for long enough. She’ll never release this book, and even if she does it will not resemble what was originally pitched and CONTINUES to be pitched on the website. Fuck this self absorbed cow.

Secondly, it occurs to me that this whole “Louis” thing comes off as her simply not being able to reconcile the very obvious fact that “Octavius” is just Sarah. Not wanting to accept this – she’s tried to conjur up yet another fictional identity that will no doubt continue to show the social anxiety and depression as Sarah/Octavius. She can’t keep running from problems by changing her name. She’s going to have to face up to things and deal with it sooner or later – and the later she leaves it, the worse it’ll be. To my knowledge, she’s not identifying as a man or going through some transition, so it all just comes off as some feeble attempt to yet again, run away from problems. Sad and pathetic really.

Agree George, although I’ve never quite figured out if she does have the level of problems she portrays or if he demeanour is all part of a despicable grift master plan. Either way she’s not helping herself by staying in the cycle she’s in – and her content is garbage so there’s not much else there tbh. I personally couldn’t bring myself to give a red cent to anyone who’s let that weasel nostalgia nerd slip them a length!

I also never quite got the concept of the book or why people would want this? I personally don’t find her / him / them (Octavius) interesting enough to spark my curiosity and with respect and not trying to generalise people, I also would say that I imagine most gamers (myself included), have used the hobby and the fantastic worlds within to help us through tough times, grief and all sorts of issues in our lives at one time or another – life is hard after all. This has been a coping mechanism for most human beings, be that they are interested in video games, music, books, art or whatever. But I wouldn’t expect anyone to be that interested in my take on this for example, let alone also using a platform to beg punters to pay for it. And as you say – and if it’s not delivered the grifter should be called out regardless. I think you’re right that the problem here is as much about the simps and their behaviour in fuelling this sort of thing, as it is Octavius and people like her / him / it (amend as appropriate)
