I had this on xb360 back in the day and remember playing alongside RR7 on my PS3. RR7 does have a better look and is more vibrant. The ps3 also has that lovely 1080p output for extra sheen, which does make it look a whole lot better overall
rage racer should be live on the site in 30 minutes or so mate !

I got this a while back for my 360 but haven’t played it properly; it does look nice so I will have a go at some point soon. One thing you mentioned made me realise why Rage Racer didn’t tickle my ridge-love (so to speak); the grittiness of the graphics. Thanks for the review! i’m now going to comment on one of the other ridge racer videos to try to keep my comment(s) relevant to what you’ve said but thanks again as I’ve really enjoyed the series (so far?).
i think the 360 version is really good BUT ridge racer 7 is definitely better. it brings back the brighter colours and there are some other subtle QOL improvements that definitely make it a better package. plus it has a few more tracks and one in particular is a real belter ! yes, i was really disappointed in the colourscheme chosen on rage racer, i wish they’d stayed with the bright, lush colours of the previous games as this was partly what i signed up for. it’d be the same if outrun all of a sudden became more pastel shaded and more drab looking, it just doesn’t suit the arcade style. i appreciate rage racer is NOT an arcade port but, still, it was part of the lineage and it would have been good if they’d continued with the colour tones established by the original entried in the series as those are really lush and it adds to the feel of the game. the xbox version is obviously a little guilty of this, too, which is a shame BUT it’s a little more like the PSP versions which, while understated, did have some nice neon sections etc and both psp and xbox versions are extremely playable (then again, so is rage racer, i finished that years ago and really enjoyed doing so !)

Loving the RR content by the way – any chance of type 4 and rage racer while you’re on a roll George? 😉
