The YouTube algorithm started pushing old episodes of The Cook Report at me. I watched one and now I’m hooked. Roger has some balls on him. Can’t wait to listen to this. Thanks George!
it’s absolutely ace mate. what surprised me is how accident prone the big man is, those bits are ace. a really good listen throughout ! yes, the programs are really addictive !
Finally had time to give this a listen, thanks a whole lot for uploading this(Cook has a great reading-voice as well)! Got alot of work done on a Pixcen-picture, and also got back into Dark Souls for a good hour. Hope you’ll find more rareties to upload!
yes mate it’s a really great audiobook the only shame is that it’s abridged. there was a really good david niven one called “the moon’s a balloon” that we’d often listen to in the car when i was younger but sadly that is also abridged i suppose in those days they didn’t have so many “longform” formats and certainly no mp3 files !
no problem at all mate it seemed criminal not to as it’s not available anywhere and i think there is a lot of interest amongst my fans for Roger’s great work !

Is there anyway to download this? Your website player doesn’t work well on mobile (the fast forward/rewind bar doesn’t do anything).
we will look into this mate and yes we are currently working on implementing downloads.

I used to love the Cook report, watching it with my gran. The episode where he was investigating the Spanish fisherman. We thought he was going to get killed

This is a brilliant listen, I had it on as I was dozing off last night. Need to finish it tonight. Does anyone remember a magazine in the 90’s called Smut? It was basically a Viz rip off and not as good, but it had a character in it called ‘Buster Bailey, gets beat up daily’ and that reminds me of poor old Roger. He’d get a daily kicking and still kept coming back for more, so long as the crims got it and justice was served. Absolute legend.
Also I can’t believe how unlucky the guy was and how many accidents he had and walked away from, or at least survived. Great upload mate, look forward to listening to the rest.
the accidents are brilliant aren’t they ? such an unlucky man to have so many strange things happen to him ! when his tv companions make that t-shirt for him i think it’s quite fitting !
Goes on holiday twice, first time a nut case jumps off a balcony and lands on him in the street, nearly killing him, and the next time a chandelier lands on him in a hotel. You couldn’t write it!
no problem at all mate it’s one for the true Cook report heads ! i’m really pleased that people are getting the chance to listen to it as it seems to be unavailable anywhere digitally so it’s good to preserve it and make sure it’s not lost to the mists of time (or fire) like a lot of his classic shows were !

Is it just me, or does it seem sus that so many tapes of The Cook Report have been destroyed by fires?
i think it was in the london riots mate when that sony facility got burned down but sadly they were also letting a big chunk of it out as independent storage. i think some dr who stuff was lost in that too.

The bit where he’s supposedly in a safety harness hanging outside a helicopter then discovers it was never even attached is ace.
Absolutely loving this so far! Roger was clearly an alumnus of the school of hard knocks, which probably served him well, and what a fantastic broadcasting voice too. It’s a shame that his style of investigative journalism has all but died the death now. Tough questions still need to be asked and unscrupulous types need hauling across the coals and exposing. Sadly, in these mixed up times we’re living in, Roger would probably be branded a nuisance, a troll and a stalker. I think the world needs more people like him…
damn right mate this is an amazing listen i’ve listened to it every night since my mate sent it to me and thought it appropriate to share with the bummers and you’re right, this style of real journalism is very much frowned upon these days and with gagging orders etc it’s very difficult to get the truth out ! even this site exists because i can’t speak my mind on youtube ! enjoy the listen mate !
indeed mate lol well said. “that roger cook, what a TROLL !” that’s very much how people would deal with him nowadays, or try to !

Always remember him from the 80s – the Cook Report was compelling stuff and he was always getting battered by someone! But did it deter him ? Of course it didn’t!
if you listen mate you’ll find out about how accident prone he is, he was involved in some crazy situations through no fault of his own even before he started getting whipped around the head with dog chains and kicked down flights of stairs ! it’s an absolutely brilliant listen – he’s a true legend of British broadcasting !
