Personally I love Space Giraffe ~ though it can be a colourful on-screen vomit at times I found the in-game sounds help during frantic play (well, a bit) and it differed enough from Tempest to make it it’s own game.
I’ve never played TxK but it’s worth bearing in mind Llamasoft were apparently ‘politely’ “asked” to make Tempest 4000 (allegedly) when the collection of lawyers that currently wears the Atari cloak threatened them after plans to release TxK on other formats were announced.
Anyway I went into playing Tempest 4000 expecting to play a made-under-duress game but I still ended up liking it.
Maybe it’s better suited to handheld (I have it on switch lite)? Maybe I’m a Llamasoft fanboy? Perhaps I know know what I’m talking about? Who knows or cares?.. either way I am looking forward to seeing how Akka Arrh plays, assuming Atari last long enough to release the f*cking thing.

Bit of the old Emperor’s New Clothes on this one. I bought TxK on Vita after various rave reviews from “the retro scene” and was similarly disappointed. Bit of a slapdash, haphazard, floaty feeling mess IMHO. Thanks for reminding me of the classic episode of Morse though where he sent Lewis to a rave wearing a little cap so he’d be down with the kids. “It’s just noise Lewis!!!”

You would have to drop quite a few trips to overdose yourself and then it probably wouldn’t be life threatening unless you’re licking the fuckers by the 100’s like folding leaflets in to envelopes at ten bob per 100 in the 80s. (80s council house dwellers like myself will get this reference)

My mother use to do the Xmas decorations and card holders to make extra cash even though she worked full time caretaker for the NHS when my father was getting his Garage of the ground. But my m8s dad and brothers use to do the Envelopes and prawns on top of being scrapmen who would weight it in then jump over the wall of the yard at night to lift the copper for the next day. Their house use to stink to high heaven and if i was there the rule was i had to help in between making the brews.

Good times.
