Another classic game and watch, always referred to as ‘orange donkey kong’ when I was a kid. It’s not one that I owned but a few mates had it so I got to play it a fair bit still. Those classic animations, the big swan dive as he misses the swinging hook at the end! 😂
Wish I still had my game and watch units. Like most childhood toys (Star Wars figures included) I have no idea what happened to them. They just seem to organically disappear with time. Anyway good stuff mate, another enjoyable G&W video 👍🏻
cheers mate ! i also uploaded a review of Blackjack yesterday which in all honesty i was dreading playing but after doing so i must admit i enjoyed it a lot and it’s gone on to become one of my favourite g&w titles because it’s very addictive (like the act of gambling itself i suppose !) and is really different from all the rest of them. i’m glad i checked out game B too as i was going to stop recording and not bother, but it’s a totally different, albeit quite simple, game.
these are great games mate i wish nintendo would do a dual screen “all in one” game & watch unit with a very high res screen and all the game & watch titles on it but i think that’s just unfortunately a pipe dream but maybe someday ! thanks for watching and commenting mate !
That would be amazing actually. A modern Game & Watch unit, dual screen and full colour, available in different colour units and styles. Single screen games would just utilise the bottom screen. They could make it wifi enabled and let you download the entire Game & Watch catalogue from the Nintendo store, for say a fiver a game or something. They’d be onto a definite winner. I’m not sure Nintendo would invest the time and effort into it though, as they’d have to convert all the games and would probably see it only as niche rather than something that would be globally popular. Great idea though 👍🏻
i think it should just include the entire catalogue, it’d just make it more expensive (wifi module etc) to have to download them and the whole point of the unit would be to bundle them in. i think it could be globally popular. a lot of people forget that the game & watch titles were actually, eventually, more popular in the rest of the world rather than japan. in japan they had the famicom before they’d majorly scaled it out elsewhere so sales of the game & watch really tailed off in home territory whereas us backwards morons in the west were still looking for that type of thing as consoles hadn’t fully taken off and, especially in america, home micro computers were not so much of a thing at that point.
